wet_smartslug is a WordPress plugin which smartifies your post, page, tag and category slugs and let them convey the very essence of your content’s titles by removing too short or insignificant stopwords – automatically, that is. It comes preloaded with an easily expandandable and configurable set of English stopwords taken from here.

Settings

Two plugin options cater for your individual needs: The minimum required length for a slug part to be taken into consideration as a candidate part for the final “smart slug”, plus a user-configurable set of stopwords to control the exclusion of common words like “a, an, the, some” and the like.

Installation

  1. Download(Download location for wet_smartslug auf WordPress.org)”:http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/smart-slug/ the compress plugin file.
  2. Extract all contents of siad file in your site’s wp-plugin/wet_smartslug folder.
  3. Activate wet_smartslug through the WordPress dashboard.
  4. Optionally adapt some settings in “Settings > Smart Slug”.
  5. Ready to roll.

hört sich gut an, eine Frage noch, wandelt das Plugin auch das ‘ö’ in ‘oe’ um?

Umlaute und scharfes S werden nicht transliteriert. Dafür benötigst du wie bisher das bekannte o42-clean-umlauts.

Plugin klappt soweit gut.
Nur kann es sein, dass es nicht mehr zugreift, wenn man den Titel nochmal ändert?
Ich gebe ‘Das war e kostenloses Boot’ ein, klicke ins Textfeld und dann wird ja geprüft. Rauskommt ‘kostenloses-boot.’
Nun ändere ich den Titel in ‘Das war e*in* kostenloses Boot’ und gehe auf Entwurf speichern und dann ist der Titel aufeinmal ‘das-war-ein-kostenloses-bootdas-war-ein-kostenloses-boot’.

Kann ich bei WordPress 2.7 nicht ganz nachvollziehen.

Beim Speichern als Entwurf wird der Slug zwar herkömmlich aus dem Titel gebildet (das-war-ein-kostenloses-boot), aber beim Veröffentlichen greift das Plugin und stellt den Slug auf “kostenloses-boot”. Wegen des Verhaltens beim Speichern als Entwurf werde ich noch ein wenig nachforschen, damit das Verhalten einheitlich wird.

Verwendest du WordPress 2.7?

Jep verwende ich, hatte es jetzt nur bei Entwurf speichern probiert. Veröffentlich habe ich noch keinen, da ich nichts hatte.

Smartes Plugin, vielen Dank dafür!

Ich bin inzwischen sowieso der Meinung, URLs können gar nicht kurz genug sein. Die Zeiten für sowas wie tollefirma.de/produkte/kategorie1/subkategorie1/hauptelemente/nebenelemente/produkt-mit-unglaublich-langem-namen/ sollten vorbei sein.
Und klar, auch Blogs sollten einen Slug nicht ungelesen übernehmen ;)
